Dear Members of ACUW,

I hope that each of you had a Happy Spring and a joyful Easter. June is right around the corner and marks the beginning of summer. Being a former teacher, I looked forward to the summer break and tried to plan fun activities for the family. I am sure that you have a variety of activities planned with your children and grandchildren. It helps to bring our families together and keeps us in touch with each other.

We have one of our most important events coming up, “A Taste of Creativity,” and we are asking for your support once again. After not having a Fundraiser Fashion Show in 2014, ACUW is once again undertaking this tremendous project. We are partnering with the UH Mānoa School of Fashion Design & Merchandising and presenting original designs by their six graduating seniors. As you know proceeds will go toward our Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships as well as monies to carry out our club’s mission. Please buy a ticket for yourself, a friend, and maybe even consider getting a table for other relatives and friends. Anna Chang, Shari Lee-Huntoon and their committee chairs have worked hard to make this event memorable, and you are in for a treat.

Mahalo to Sandi Shiroma who planned our fabulous lū‘au with a great MC, club members entertaining us with a Chinese dance, Bingo, prizes galore, and “ono” food. Thanks also to Natalie Wu who organized our Cooking Demo with Gordon Lum. Once again, we had a delicious lunch of chow fun and spareribs with members contributing pupu and dessert.

Please join us at our June meeting when our scholarship recipients will be introduced.

Mahalo nui loa
