Aloha Ladies of ACUW!

I am humbled to serve as your 2016 ACUW President in the year of the Monkey.  I will do my best to uphold the objectives of the past, present and future endeavors of this organization.  I look forward to educating others about our Chinese culture and heritage, participating in the Chinese Community and Cultural events, and promoting fundraising scholarships for students with great potential.

The theme of the December 5th Christmas Installation at the beautiful Wai‘alae Country Club is to be “Greater Together.”  With our new board in place, I know we can achieve so much more this year.

We plan to have a fun and exciting year ahead kicking off Chinese New Year at our 1st General Membership Luncheon at the Empress Restaurant (Cultural Plaza) on Saturday, January 9th. Please come and join us for a sumptuous Chinese lunch organized by Lottie Chun, 2016 Vice President.  It will be followed by a New Members' Program led by Susan Lee, 2015 Membership Chair.  The new members have been working hard to showcase their talents in a short program for us. Let's welcome them with open arms to ACUW!

The following week on Sunday, January 17th, we will be assisting BOH Family Sunday Event at the Honolulu Museum of Art to celebrate the Year of the Monkey with the theme “Monkey Business.” Please come to support our ACUW members who are very much involved in this event including Natalie Wu, Pat Moberly, Maura Yee, and Lois Mui, our 2016 Cultural Event Chairs.

Then on Saturday January 30th, we will be participating in the Chinatown Parade Event led by Fawn Shang, 2016 Event Chair.  It is a cultural/ community celebration that will give us exposure amongst other Chinese organizations involved in this festive parade.  We encourage you to participate!

Besides all these activities, we will be celebrating our major 85th Anniversary of the founding of this organization led by Canossa Choy, 2016 Chair and Mildred Wong, 2016 Entertainment Chair.  It will surely be a birthday celebration for all to remember at the Honolulu Country Club on Saturday, May 7th.  Save that date!

Have a happy and safe holiday season! Merry Christmas, and Happy New 2016!
