Dear Ladies of ACUW,

Thanks to each and every one of you who supported our Fashion Show Fundraiser, “A Taste of Creativity.” From the bottom of my heart, doh jay and xie xie. Mahalo nui loa to Shari Lee-Huntoon, Anna Chang, and Jeri Jeffryes for their time, effort, and hard work. ACUW is truly lucky to have members as enthusiastic as they are. They worked hard planning and seeing through each phase of the fundraiser. I am also grateful to each of you who attended the Fashion Show, and to those of you who were unable to attend, we know you were there in spirit. The Fashion Show was stunning, exhilarating, and showcased the creativity of five up-and-coming designers, all recent graduates of UH Mānoa School of Fashion Design and Merchandising.

Many of you donated baked goods, items for the Silent Auction and/or Lucky Draw, and helped with the succulent plants for our Summer Garden. I believe this Fundraiser helped to bring together many members as we worked toward a common goal: raising funds for scholarships and community service.

I hope that each of you has had a relaxing summer despite the heat. We have a busy fall season ahead, and I hope to see you at the Pālolo Chinese Home visit and/or the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration.

Gretchen Jong and her Nominating Committee may be calling you soon. Please consider serving in some capacity for one year. Your President-Elect Trudy Ching is looking for members who will bring new ideas to our meetings.

Our next project will be the Betty and Walter Chang Matching Funds Challenge. (See related article in this Bulletin.) Please consider donating to this worthy cause which will benefit our scholarship recipients by increasing their awards. Since our club is a 501(c)3 organization, your donations are completely tax deductible.

Thank you again for your support at each of our activities. It is with pride that I represent ACUW at various community events.

Mahalo nui loa
