Congratulations to:

·         Member Barbara Chun Young’s husband, Dr. Joseph Young, as he had been officially named “Mayor of Chinatown” by Mayor Kirk Caldwell in 2014.

·         Beverly Mau upon her election as Chairman of the Palolo Neighborhood Board and her appointment as the Supreme Deputy for the State of Hawaii for the international Order of Rainbow for Girls. 

·         Marcia Chong upon the marriage of her daughter ACUW member Dr. Berdine Chong to Dr. Jason Haramoto on January 9.  Best Wishes to the newlyweds. 

Speedy Recovery to:

·         Our Corresponding Secretary, Jennifer Chun.

·         Our Fundraiser Ticket Sales Coordinator, Nora Chong.

·         Past president Christine Ling.

·         Mary Ruth Chun who is recuperating at Maunalani Nursing Center

Condolences to:

·         The family of the late Margaret C. Young.  Margaret was a retired teacher.  Her obituary listed ACUW as one of her many organization affiliations with statement that she was ninety years “young.” She authored three books: “Hawaii’s People From China” (1974), “And They Also Came” (1976), and “An Historical Account of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church” (1977).

·         Member Betty Chu Wo upon the passing of her sister, Dorothy Jane “Snooks” Chu Lum, who was also a relative to yours truly via marriage into the “Lum” clan.

·         Family of the late Annabelle Ching FONG. Annabelle served as ACUW president in 1960.
