Cora Haberman won best tasting recipe at the ACUW Luau Bake Contest held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at St. Pius X Church Hall. Below is her recipe for her winning “Captain Crunch Cookies.” The other bake contest winners were Vivian Ho who won most original recipe for her “Sour Sop Pie” and Pat Nakayama whose entry of “Carrot Cake Bars” won first in the appearance category. Captain Crunch Cookies Cream 1 lb. butter, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 4 tsp.vanilla. Add to 4 cups flour, 2 tsp.baking soda, 5 cups Captain Crunch Peanut Butter, or Captain Crunch cereal, whole not crushed. Mix well. Drop on ungreased cookie sheet 1/4 in. apart. 325 degrees for 24 min. until lightly browned. Makes about 8 doz. |
