The Christmas Installation Luncheon on December 1, 2012 at Ala Moana Hotel Hibiscus Ballroom was a “magical blast.”  Our vivacious and charming emcee Lois Mui welcomed all to The Magic of Christmas.

Saint Louis High School Concert Band members wore Santa hats and their performance of Christmas songs started our event off with a bang!

2012 President Susan Lee recognized her board and gave each a beautiful red jasper bracelet for their year of dedication and hard work.  The 2013 officers were installed by Chief Justice Ronald Moon (retired).  It was very impressive.  2013 President Beverly Mau gave an ACUW gift to Susan Lee for a job well done.   In return she gave the new president her gavel and key.

The Yeung Dak Lion Dance  came to bless the 2013 officers and members for a successful 2013, Year of the Snake.  Sifu Shane Maihui, friend of our 2013 president gave a debut of “Year of the Snake”  that was outstanding.  President Mau and her two children, Chaz and Chanelle fed the lions with lisees on bamboo posts given by Danny Young.

In behalf of the City and County of Honolulu, Councilman Stanley Chang presented a certificate to ACUW.  The State of Hawai’i’s certificate was given by House Speaker Calvin Say.

After a thoughtful and grateful prayer by Past President Thelma Nip, everyone enjoyed a sumptuous Chinese luncheon.

The Pacific Pearl Unit of Ladies Oriental Shrine performed line dancing.  Shari Lee-Huntoon collected door prizes galore and everyone stayed for a chance to win.  Blossom Mau announced the distribution of centerpieces that featured gorgeous silk embroidered Chinese cheongsam and jackets with frog buttons.

Thank you to our generous Opportunity Ticket donors:  Anne Namba (calligraphy-striped blouse); Duke’s Clothing ($100.00 gift certificate); Ala Moana Hotel (breakfast-for-two certificate); and LuCoral Hawaii (3 pearl necklaces).  The Grand Prize winner of the “Obama” pearl necklace, donated by LuCoral, was won by Patricia Hubbard.

The fortune cookies had the message “Good Health and Happiness for You!”  In conclusion we joined hands and sang “We wish you a Merry Christmas.”
