QING MING, the Chinese ceremony to honor the dead is quite fascinating to watch and participate in. This year ACUW has contacted Nanette Napoleon, noted cemetery historian, to give a personal, narrated tour of the Mānoa Cemetery on Friday, April 5th, 9:30am – 11:30am.  The tour includes watching the formal outdoor ceremony and a tour of the Bone House. Make no bones about it. Your interest co-chairs joined a tour last year and became informed about various elements of this ancient custom. We even swept a grave and learned to fold paper money for several ancestors.

To entice you even more, an optional luncheon is planned for attendees at Asia Mānoa Chinese Restaurant following the tour. Wear sneakers as you will be walking the cemetery and bring an umbrella.
