Greetings, ACUW Members!

Mahalo nui for reaffirming that ACUW is indeed a worthy organization and a source of pride for members! The Directors and Officers are gratified at the show of support from members who have indicated their desire to maintain ACUW’s legacy of promoting education and service for our community. Members of ACUW, you are validating our optimism and hope for a promising future for ACUW as a respected organization with a relevant mission and worthwhile purposes. We especially appreciate members who are willing to share their talents, skills, experience, energy and time to provide leadership to renew our “Can do!” spirit. We believe that Nominating Chair Chu Lan Shubert-Kwock and her committee will be able to present to the membership a slate of outstanding Officers and Directors for the election to be held at our Annual Meeting on November 1 at the Oahu Country Club. In addition to the leadership team forming, members are pledging their willingness to lead key committees and activities, including the essential fundraiser to support and promote scholarships and academic awards, educational cultural events to share our Chinese heritage and meaningful community service projects, collaborating with other agencies and organizations as appropriate.

On a more mundane note, your Board of Directors (BOD) will be presenting for ratification at the Annual Meeting the Finance Policies & Procedures recently approved. We are also presenting a draft of the Standing Committees Policies & Procedures (P&P) which, with possible minor changes, may be approved by the BOD in October and ready for ratification by members. Both P&P are printed in this ACUW Bulletin.

Together, we will revitalize the camaraderie of kindred spirits working cooperatively with unity of purpose on projects that benefit our community amidst joy, fun and laughter to elevate our own spirits as pacesetters. This is the ACUW we know and love!

Aloha pumehana,

Your ACUW Elected Directors
