Mid-Autumn Festival - Hong Jiang, Committee Chair

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important festivals in China.  It occurs when the moon is usually the fullest and roundest.  It is also when harvest is bountiful.    This celebration sponsored by the United Chinese Society at the Chinese Cultural Plaza began simply a few years ago and has grown to a celebration attended by many.  ACUW sponsored a table demonstrating the art of making Moon Cake and having artwork for children focusing on the Moon maiden and dragons. The children especially loved getting their hands into molding the Moon Cake and wanted to bake them immediately!

Thank you to the ACUW ladies who shared their skills, Elizabeth Lum, Lorena McGovern, Dorothy Mau, Beverly Mau, Vivian Ho, President Susan Lee and Chair Hong Jiang.  A mahalo shout to the New Tang Dynasty (NTD) television staff who assisted with the setup, Christine Ling, Eunice Terada and Pat Chong for sharing their moon cake mode and Ruth Hirai for the ethnic Chinese aprons.  We appreciate all that you do!
