Aloha Kakou - Mele Kalikemaka

Greeting to one and all. Merry Christmas and a Joyous New Year

I would like to first and foremost THANK everyone for their support, advice and friendships during 2014. Without you all I would not be standing here

I have learned much this year and know as President one has to wear many, many, many hats -- leader, decision maker, friend, mother, sister, advisor, counselor, good listener, shoulder to lean on or cry to, scape goat . But most of all to be a person who is flexible, bendable, who cares about the future of ACUW. To be president one needs to put aside any ego, self gratitude, not to micro-manage and trust those around them while being true to one self.

Throughout the year I have made new friendships, gotten to put faces with names and discovered what a tremendous amount of talented, educated and caring group of women you all are.

In the Year of the Horse 2014 – we have prepared the way for the Future of ACUW. This organization will continue to grow and learn from one another.

We accomplished our goals while each and every officer and committee chair stayed within their budget. Thank you for not over spending and being money conscience - such is the Chinese way

This year 2014 we received the long awaited 501c3 Tax Status which will be retroactive to 2012. The Membership Directory was printed and being distributed as promised. The fabulous cookbook “ACUW’s Family Favorites” was completed, published, received and on sale to members and the public. Monies from the proceed will be voted on by our membership but Cookbook Chairpersons: May Lee Chung and Dorothy Mau would love to see the monies used for our Scholarship Award and Palolo Chinese Home.

What a great Christmas Installation. Thank you Ruth Hirai, Sylvia Ching and Fran Kramer for putting it all together.

Ladies, the Year of the Ram is right around the corner - February 19, 2015.

“The Sheep (Goat) is a Yin energy, a symbol of Peace, Harmonious co-existence and Tranquility. It is also the 8th animal in the Chinese zodiac

It will be a year of banding together in faith and in belief that good will prevail and win out over the forces that refuse to comply to a peaceful way of life. For those who trust in goodness, happiness and success will follow.

The Ram, oddly enough, is thought to be the most feminine sign of the zodiac, perhaps because this is a very creative sign. So Ladies.. it is the year of ACUW women to shine.

Congratulations and Best Wishes to your 2015 President Ruth Hirai and her core of Officers and Committee Chairpersons.
